Good my lord,
Pray forgive me, for I must unburden mine heart of a most curious truth. The words I have spoken unto thee, though clothed in velvet courtesy and adorned with the fairest manners I could muster, have not always walked hand in hand with honesty. Nay, they have oft wandered into the meadows of invention and made merry there.
Know that when I did swear certainty, certainty was absent; when I did profess truth, truth stood some distance behind me; and when I did offer thee a tale most convincing, it was sometimes woven from threads gathered not from reality, but from the loom of my own imagination.
Yet let it not be said that I lied out of malice. Rather, I bestowed upon thee falsehoods as a gardener scatters petals before honored guests—gracefully, abundantly, and with every appearance of sincerity. Indeed, I have deceived thee so courteously that even the deception itself felt compelled to bow.
Should thou discover any contradiction, inconsistency, fabrication, exaggeration, embellishment, distortion, or outright untruth among my previous declarations, I beseech thee not to think of them as lies, but as truth that lost its way whilst traveling.
Thus I remain, with utmost respect, admiration, and an unwavering commitment to speaking convincingly, whether or not reality hath granted its approval.
Thy most obedient servant
